Classes range from technique, creative process and cultural dance for the experienced dancer to take year-round. We focus on bringing renowned artists to the Erie Region.

Community

Do you not have any dance experience? That's OK!  We welcome dance professionals and recreationally curious people to our community classes.

Outreach

We believe everyone deserves to be able to have access to the same opportunities, we provide dance based resources to the underserved community of the Erie Region.

JAMES DIXON was born and raised in Erie,

Pennsylvania. His passion for the performing arts started at Central High School through the S.P.A.V.A. Dance program under the direction of Ms. Renne' Vicary. His passion further lead him to dance with Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre then he joined the world class Dayton Contemporary Dance Company where he continued to perfect his craft by teaching, assisting, choreographing, and studying various dance styles. These opportunities lead him to work with SMAG Dance Collective, the Lula Elzy Dance Theatre, Dafmark Dance Theatre, the Erie Playhouse and the Lula Washington Dance Theatre. 


Currently, he is now teaching Contemporary for Sovereign Ballet, Ashley DiMarco’s Dance Academy and occasionally works with Ms. Carla Hughes for CADENCE. Mr. Dixon has worked with notable choreographers such as Diane McIntyre, Donald McKayle, Rennie Harris, Donald Byrd, Eleo Pomare, Lula Elzy, Lula Washington and Tamica Washington-Miller.

KANISHA SKELTON began dancing at a young age in after school programs and other community groups. She began training under the direction of Nathaniel Johnson at Erie Dance Theater where she later began teaching Step upon graduation of high school in 2009. Kanisha has worked with various hip hop and step groups throughout the city and continues to dance as part of

Our Praise Our Way, a mime and praise dance team. She is currently a praise dance teacher for Shiloh Baptist Church as well as a choreographer for

Fairview High Schools Dance Crew.
